Red Dragon Roll in Chinese New Year
Happy Chinese New Year folks! To celebrate the year of Horse in the offbeat way, I decided to order Japanese Takeaway instead of the traditional Chinese food.
This was my first time ordering from Jina Sushi, I ordered the Red Dragon Roll and the Philadelphia Roll.
I am absolutely amazed by their quick delivery service, from taking the orders on phone to deliver on my doorsteps, the whole process was only under 20 minutes! Their remarkable express delivery literally saved my tummy from rumbling.
Red Dragon Roll – $10.99 CAD
The rolls were creatively presented like a red dragon with prawn tempura tails as the head and the tail of the dragon! Probably they could use the prawn head to serve as the dragon head next time (just saying). The giant roll also took me by surprise with its huge size, which comprised of fresh slices of salmon on top and generous amounts of avocado, crab meat sticks, cucumbers, prawn tempura and deep fried yam. Not to mention the mouthwatering splash of spicy sauce all over the roll to show off the nice red dragon skin!
The big guy tasted as good as it looked! The spicy flavour of the sauce was well-balanced by the sweetness of the deep fried yam. The salmon on top was also thickly sliced which acentuated the freshness of the roll, and also tasted coherent with the other fresh ingredients inside the roll such as the cucumbers and avocado.
The Philadelphia roll was much smaller than the Red Dragon Roll. But the heavenly combo of the creamy Phili cheese, avocado and salmon made it comparable to the red dragon roll despite its smaller size!
I strongly recommend this sushi place for anyone who enjoy the California version of sushi – abundance of sauce and western ingredients (e.g. avocado)!
